You don't need a two-hour morning routine. You need five minutes that belong to you before the day starts asking for things. This is the ritual most of my clients keep long after our work together ends, because it's small enough to survive real life.

Minute 1 — Before the phone

Feet on the floor, phone still face down. One slow breath in, one long breath out. You're teaching your nervous system that the day begins with you, not with a notification.

Minute 2 — Water

A full glass, before coffee. Your body has gone hours without it, and half of what we call "morning fog" is simply thirst.

Minute 3 — One line

Write one sentence: how you actually feel right now. Not how you should feel. Naming it takes the charge out of it.

Minute 4 — One thing

Choose the single thing that would make today feel like a win. Not the whole list. One. Write it under your sentence.

Minute 5 — Move

Stretch, walk to the window, roll your shoulders. Sixty seconds of movement tells your body it's safe to wake up fully.

Why it works

Each minute answers a question your body asks every morning: Am I safe? Am I cared for? Do I know what matters today? When those are answered before the rush, the rush has less power over you.

Try it for seven mornings. Don't aim for perfect; aim for five minutes. Then tell me how it felt.
